Nearly blind, with her eyes matted shut and her body covered in sores from a severe case of mange, she was a sight that could break anyone’s heart. Weighing just 24 pounds and suffering from various infections, her situation seemed dire. Thankfully, a good Samaritan discovered her and reached out to Shaw Pit Bull Rescue, igniting the spark of hope that would soon change Morena's life forever.
The founders of Shaw Pit Bull Rescue, Aimee and Kenneth, were immediately moved by Morena's plight. Although their rescue was already full, they could not turn their backs on such a precious life in need. They quickly made arrangements for her to get the medical attention she needed, meeting the rescuer at the veterinarian's office. The moment Aimee laid eyes on Morena, she felt a surge of emotion. Despite the condition of her fur and swollen, infected eyes, there was a glimmer of spirit in Morena that told everyone she was a fighter, ready to embrace the love and care she would soon receive.
