Meet Kylo Ren, the charming rescue dog who has stolen our hearts! This adorable pup, with his silly antics and affectionate demeanor, was living at the West Memphis Animal Shelter at just 10 months old. Despite being full of love, Kylo faced the challenge of finding a forever home. For a long time, he waited patiently, dreaming of the day someone would recognize the wonderful companion he was meant to be. Luckily for him, that day finally came when his perfect family discovered his picture on Facebook and reached out to adopt him. Talk about a happy ending!
Kylo's journey took a delightful turn when he was welcomed into a loving foster home at ALIVE Rescue Memphis. Although he had all the qualities of a great pet, he remained overlooked by potential adopters—until Meghan Sweers and her husband came along. They immediately fell in love with Kylo's photo and decided to give him a chance. "I think he was always meant to wind up with us; it just took some time for us to find him!” Meghan said joyfully, reflecting on how fate seemed to bring them together.
Once Kylo arrived in his new home, it was clear that he was a perfect fit! Meghan and her husband had a sweet corgi named Nellie, so they arranged a trial night to see how the two dogs would get along. That night, as soon as they left, Kylo cozied up into Meghan's lap, tucking his head under her chin and quickly dozing off. From that moment on, it was love at first sight, and they knew Kylo was meant to be part of their family. It's these little moments that make adopting a pet so special and rewarding!
As he settled into his new life, Kylo quickly adapted and won over hearts, including Meghan's. His playful quirks, like his unusual dislike for hardwood floors, were met with understanding and affection. Meghan and her husband even covered their home with rugs so he could jump around safely. Kylo's favorite part of the day? When Meghan comes home from work. His joyful greetings are filled with hugs and snuggles! "If I don’t sit down for our cuddle time, he follows me around with the saddest, most pathetic look on his face until I give in and hold him," Meghan shared, showcasing Kylo's playful yet needy side.
Kylo's loving personality has also helped change perceptions about bully breeds. Once viewed with skepticism, many of Meghan's family members have had their hearts melted by Kylo's affectionate nature. They’ve seen how he effortlessly climbs into their laps and dozes off, challenging any prejudices they may have had. “He wins people over a bit forcibly,” chuckled Meghan, emphasizing how Kylo’s genuine spirit has made a positive impact on everyone around him.
